Alteration & Addition

The extension at the back of this terrace house is designed playfully by stacking boxes, creating the necessary combination of light and shadows.

Situated within the center of the house, the double-height void contains skylights and is designed to dramatically address the need for more light within the terrace, relieving the pressure of the dense urbanity beyond. It is also a means of creating stack-effect ventilation (allowing warm air to rise through the home and escape out the top).
